I believe that Elearning is the way of the future. It is no longer an option, but rather a must. We have to accept it and learn to deal with it. What we must understand is that old learning pedagogy was designed for a different generation at a different time. What we have today at hand is a new generation – the “Digital Generation”. We have toddlers who can hardly talk or walk but are able to hold a smartphone and flip pics in the gallery or even start jump from one screen to another. We have kids who are able to watch Youtube and learn different skills such as handcraft and playing music instruments. So what we need is a set of new pedagogy that are designed for this new generation. Elearning is not about technology – it is about a mentality and a culture. The problems we have had so far is that the majority are trying to handle Elearning as an extension to the conventional learning theory while it is not. It is a new concept on its own for a totally different generation.

Most in the industry have seriously entertained a New Year’s resolution: next year it will be different. My learners will actually learn. Performance will be the primary focus. Yet how many of us actually walk to the talk. My intent is to do just that from now on. To incorporate the Manifesto into my practice.

I reviewed the Manifesto and thought it was fantastic. It covered many of the things I’ve learned from neurology to pedagogy to instructional design. It’s very comprehensive, well-rounded, and we need more of this out there in our communities. Love it!(From 9/11/14)

For me Learning is about Impact. It’s obvious that you cannot make impact alone by thinking about something and recalling it, when someone asks you to. Instead its the responsibility of learners and teachers to strive for a holistic experience being able to perform with full engagement. Using the heart, mind and body in alignment with a strong purpose, that makes sense for your personal context. So I happily endorse the elearning manifesto, because I see series change (and learning) happening, because of the application of these principles and values.

There is an art and a science to almost everything, including instructional design. I endorse the Manifesto as a structural baseline to the science of successful learning development. It is a strong foundation to leverage along side a learning organization’s existing development model.
